Start With You

Why would someone share “their truth” and start by blaming other people?

Why not begin with an apology for their own fear of man over God, or the selfish ambition that allowed them to participate in something they knew was wrong?

Why not take personal accountability for their actions before explaining what was wrong with the actions of others?

This isn’t directed at anyone because I’ve seen people from all schools of thought and different organizations do this.

As an athlete I believe in saying “my bad” when you mess up before explaining how your teammate broke down on defense. Even if they did.

I also say this as a disciple who for 11 years has refused to compromise my Biblical convictions to please people or advance in leadership - turning down money, positions, and at times having certain people think I was unspiritual or not a leader because of it.

This is not to commend myself at all. I’m far from perfect.

This is just to say that if at any point we feel the need to blow the whistle on corrupt things we have participated in, we should lead with humility and accountability for that participation.

If at any point we feel the need to call out the unbiblical actions of others, we should lead with our own unbiblical actions that influenced them to choose that path.

“Our truth” should always lead with the truth about us.

Let’s continue to fear God, love people, and make disciples.

I love you family 💜
