Dear Creative (Pt 1)

Dear Creative, I’m sorry.

I’m sorry they convinced you to bury your talents for God instead of using them to fish. (Matthew 25:14-30)

I’m sorry they told you walking onto a college campus pleased God more than walking into a dance class, a piano recital, or a recording session. (1 Peter 4:10)

I’m sorry they limited your fishing pool to 18-22 year olds when God gave you skills to reach the kings of our age. (Proverbs 22:29)

I’m sorry they preyed on your desire to please God by defining “sold out” as giving up your dreams instead of baptizing them. (Exodus 35:30-36:2)

I’m sorry they limited your ability to glorify God to a ministry they knew how to lead and control. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

I’m sorry they convinced you the only way to build the Kingdom of God was by building the campus of God. (1 Timothy 2:4)

I’m sorry that even now you’re afraid of people thinking you’re worldly for using your God-given gifts for your God-given purpose. (Galatians 1:10)

Overall, I’m sorry. But know this.

The first characteristic the Bible shows about God is that He’s a creative. The Creator. (Genesis 1:1)

You were made in His image as a creator. (Genesis 1:27)

If God has personally called you to set down your talents for Him then amen. He will honor your obedience. (Deuteronomy 28:1-3)

But an ask or mandate from man is not necessarily a call from God, even if that person is a leader. It’s for you alone to seek the Lord and decide which is which. (Jeremiah 17:5-7, Acts 5:29)

If God is not telling you to set down your talents, then do what only you can do for Him with the talents you specifically have, because that’s why you have them. (Romans 12:6-8)

Love always,

Your Creative Sister
